About me...
I Live in Lancaster, in North-West England. I came here when I went to University in 1976, and stayed ever since. I love that Lancaster is a manageable size as a city. It's small, but kept lively by the huge percentage of students. It's also really handy for walking in the Lake District, and near enough to Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool easily to do the city thing. Generally, I love the north of England.
I live here with my partner, Cat, who is a nurse, naturopath, homeopath and trainee counsellor. We share the house with our cat, Luna. My son is grown up and now lives in Sheffield.
I studied anthropology and philosophy at university, went on to work in a workers’ cooperative for a few years, spent a number of years exploring spirituality and the radical therapy movement, spent five years working in a hospital teaching sign language, and then decided to become self employed. Apart from a half-time job heading up a counselling training for a few years, I have been self employed in the therapy world ever since.
I first became involved in the therapy and healing movements in my late teens/early 20s. Over the years I have exported, trained and worked in various fields, including counselling, psychotherapy, homeopathy, bodywork. It has been, and very much still is, a rich and fascinating journey for me. What draws it all together for me is shamanism - my spiritual practice.
